Flight Attendant Charged With Setting Fire In Aircraft Toilet

A 19 year old flight attendant has been arrested after allegedly lighting a fire in the rear toilet of a Northwest Airlines (NWA)/Compass Airlines flight between Minneapolis and Regina, Saskatchewan.

Eder H. Rojas admitted lighting the fire onboard the Embraer 175 aircraft forcing it to make an emergency landing at Hector International Airport in Fargo, ND.

None of the 72 passengers or four crew members were injured.

It is claimed that the attendant started the blaze in a fit of anger at being forced to work the route.

If convicted Rojas faces 20 years in prison.

 

Northwest Airlines Offers $50 Cash Back With PayPal

Northwest Airlines is offering $50 cash back on tickets valued over $250 and purchased before March 27, 2008 using the PayPal payment system.

Travel must take place between April 1 and June 14, 2008, and tickets must be purchased at www.nwa.com.

The $50 rebate will be paid directly into the passengers PayPal account.

Flying no longer seen as a glamourous job

According to CBS, the Minneapolis-based carrier Northwest airlines has been forced to cancel hundreds of flights because the airline does not have enough pilots.

Aviation experts believe the shortfall in available pilots is due to the extreme cost cutting program the airline was forced into to lift iteself out of bankruptcy. However, others believe, that as the airline industry recovers from the effects of September 11, the number of flying jobs will outstrip the supply of trained pilots with flying is no longer seen as a glamourous enough job to attract young pilots into the industry.
