Passengers onboard an OzJet budget flight between Brisbane and Norfolk Island were told to pepare for an emergency landing in the ocean after pilots reported a malfunction with the aircraft's wing.
Prior to landing safetly at Noumea Airport passengers on the Boeing 737 were told to put on their life jackets and prepare for a landing in water.
A spokesman for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said, "On the climb out there was a severe vibration and it appears that the right outboard slat appeared to be broken or there were some problems with it so the flight continued on to Noumea."
