Following the announcement that MAXjet filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on 24 December and has discontinued service, Silverjet has today announced that MAXjet customers flying between London and New York will have access to a limited number of Silverjet seats on the airline’s transatlantic route for the same price as their MAXjet ticket.
Lawrence Hunt, CEO, Silverjet, comments: “Our commitment lies firstly with ensuring our own passengers enjoy Silverjet’s seamless private jet experience but we would like to extend an invitation to those affected by MAXjet's announcement. The airline industry is hugely competitive, which has been starkly illustrated by today's announcement. Indeed, Silverjet has already seen a 20% increase in bookings since MAXjet's shares were suspended.”
As Silverjet approaches its first year of launch, passenger numbers on the airline continue to exceed expectations and forward bookings remain strong. In September Silverjet launched its second flight to New York and in November became the first business class only airline to launch a non transatlantic service, flying daily to Dubai. The airline recently announced it has raised an additional £22m to fund further expansion plans and anticipates that it will report profits within the financial year ending March 2008.
